993 Porsche

Pure elegance

Brad first come to me having a good idea of what he was after for his 993 Porsche. “Singer inspired” was my breif, the gaps were left for me to fill. Just below is a before shot of the interior. An outdated yellow leather with ‘gathering’ inserts.. my most hated favourite.

It comes as no surprise it was due a drastic refresh.. lets see what we were able to deliver for Brad.

We originally spoke about going absolutely nuts for this interior, a near carbon copy of a Singer build but the price started to skyrocket as be began taking prices in. We decided the allure wouldn’t be lost if we toned down the volume a touch and worked with what we had. i Got to work right away.. Here’s the results:

Talk about a transformation

To say I was happy was an understatement. For me, Singer had such a top tier approach with all they did for their car restorations and their interiors were no exception.. it was an interior I had dreamed of replicating one day. That day had finally come and I really wanted to do this one justice in homage to the real deal.

I think we did an amazing job in not only fitting the brief but adding a touch of our own character and style into this build. Let me run you through some of the subtle touches and changes.

Door cards and stublty

We opted to keep it simple here, by using the factory design we could keep to style relevant with the body and not complicate something that was already clean and tidy. I decided instead of having the gathering insert ontop of the door like it was in the yellow example, that i would recess it flush. A simple but clean addition to these doors. From there it was a matter of integrating the fresh colours and textures throughout. New carpet for the armrest, woven leather inserts and the gorgeous brown leather for the bulk of the card.

Seat upgrades

Whilst the custom build fibreglass seats were out of the question, I set my attention to making some small changes to the original seats to bring some more race bucket flair into them.. they had the silhouette, they just needed some beef in the right areas.. but not too much i figured.

Since the rear cushions were being rebuilt, i decided to add some support on the front of the cushion inserts, similar to what you’d see in racing buckets. Once the drafted rear was complete, i did the same for the fronts. Not that it’s a huge change, but just enough I believe to give off a unique style to this build. One, a purist would spot a mile away but not be upset by.

Flooring and more

Didn’t need to reinvent the wheel on this one.. We let the gorgeous german square weave carpet do all the talking here with some clean seams and taut fit. Black or dark carpets offer up a great contrast for a brighter interior colour choice as it allows a dark platform for the colours to stand atop of, delivering a stunning finish when done well.

More notable touches

Nothings safe! Having the rest of the interior buttoned up i turned my eye towards the accessories. The wheel, auto-shift and handbrake all copped the brown leather treatment with handstitched accents to match each other and the seats.

Another cool piece was this custom parcel shelf with the Porsche logo embroidered in the centre. A great solution for the ugly looking rear shelf.

With that all out of the way, the car was finally finished. There’s always a tonne more work involved than we make out in these posts but i like to simply highlight and recap the primo features and things we loved about each build.
